Heartbreaking sale of a horse with huge potential. Pablo is an 8 year old 17.2h warmblood gelding bred to compete at the higher levels of showjumping. Pablo has competed up to 1.10m but has scope to go much higher with the right rider. Pablo is currently fit and in full work. He is the same to ride at home, at competitions or out on trails. He is calm and rarely spooks. Pablo is straightforward to catch, handle, shoe, clip and float. He does need to be kept in his place and will occasionally push the boundaries on the ground. 

Pablo can be a challenging horse to ride with a stubborn streak that requires a confident rider to keep him focused on the task in front of him. He can say “no” which may result in napping type behaviour or refusals. I believe this can be overcome with the right rider to instill consistency and confidence in Pablo. At his worst, Pablo may jack up/prop, spin, kick out, etc. 

Pablo has a clean set of X-rays from July 2024 which can be provided upon request. The X-rays revealed a long toe and low heal hoof conformation with the need to adjust some angles. He is currently in front pads and heel bars with the vet/farrier advice that he will likely require 4 more cycles of this before returning to normal shoes.

Pablo has been scoped and treated for ulcers and is currently on Sucralox with vet advice for him to remain on this while in work.  

Aside from the moments when he “says no”, Pablo is an extremely loving and affectionate horse who is mostly a joy to ride and be around. Pablo loves people, which can make him a bit pushy on the ground. He is very calm and happily goes out on bush rides by himself or with others. He is generally willing to do what is asked of him, enjoys his job and lives on praise. He can switch from “perfect Pablo” to “stubborn Pablo” quickly and without warning or reason, so a capable and confident rider is required to address issues swiftly when they arise. 

Pablo was an orphan foal and stood at stud until he was 6 years old. Pablo can still exhibit some stallion like behaviour from time to time and has not previously been paddocked with other horses. 

Pablo will go far with the right rider and in the right environment. Pablo will require a home that is patient, persistent, firm and capable to enable him to reach his full potential. Pablo will not be sold to anyone who does not meet this criteria.
