Description
Nixon is a 17.1hh warmblood, 24 year old school master gelding who’s not quite ready to retire yet.
Nixon was purchased for my small riding school a few years ago as an experienced school master. Whilst he is- we are finding that he’s just a bit too much horse to be versatile enough and he’s just not getting the attention he deserves.
Whilst he truly is a school master- having competed to medium dressage (and I believe evented in his past), he has spent a lot of time with us learning to chill out.
New scenarios still excite the old boy! He’s never shown any buck, bolt, rear etc but he’s been known to get “hot” or ”check out” when his environment gets beyond his comfortable little bubble. He can be strong but again, will leg yield or shoulder-fore to soften. Nothing an intermediate and above rider would worry about!
Hed love nothing more than to spend his days practicing his moves that he knows so well within the 4 fenced walls of the arena. Or following the EXACT same trail over and over again. For this.. he is faultless! He’d be perfect for someone who’s time poor but getting back into riding and wants an honest horse they can pull out and jump on.
He is a big fella but doesn’t ride big and is very aware of his size- he is happily, safely lead by little kids (and adores them!) He’d be the ultimate lead line pony if you cut him off at the knees. I implicitly trust him on the lead.
He’s a dream to handle, float, paddock etc. he gets on well with other horses.
We’d ideally love to find Nixon a new home where he can live out his years, pampered and loved. references and a home visit before a sale agreement are a must! preference will be given to someone keeping him at home- not agisted.
Sorry! He is well loved so we are fussy as to where he goes next.
Given his age, though he is tall, he’s not a great weight barer anymore. So a balanced rider, lighter (I’m 65kg) would be his ideal partner.
He has some minor easily managed health issues that can be discussed with any serious party. Very sound for his age!
Comes with loads of gear.
