Presley is measured at 15hh, though nobody ever believes me, he looks and feels bigger than that, even his previous owners thought he was 16hh… For reference in the pic with the navy boots and navy top, I am 5’10. He’s a
very wide solid boy.
He is a TB x percheron, 17 years old, with the sweetest personality.
Not the boldest horse in the world, he finds things to worry about, has the occasional look at things, so he probably isn’t suitable for a beginner/inexperienced rider/handler, but with a calm and firm approach, he will give you everything he’s got. In the year and a half I have owned him, I’ve worked on showing him a lot of new things, quietly and calmly, so he has become more and more brave. He isn’t a slow, lazy plod around. Nothing crazy, but there’s energy and zing in his stride for sure.
I’ve taught him to self load onto the float, he travels like an angel, will stand tied to the float or in a yard at adult riding club or wherever you are all day long. I can happily take him to my coach’s property where there is always a LOT going on, tractors, horses, her arena is full of jumps and all kinds of things (and mirrors) and he will sometimes look at things at first, but he copes really well with everything that goes on there.
He is barefoot, has good feet that haven’t needed shoes, even living in Gidgegannup, he is a perfect gentleman for the farrier/vet/clipping etc (I clipped him on my own this year and he literally did not move the whole time)
With his previous owner he did some dressage and did well for her. Since I have had him, I’ve done some adult riding club, he’s been to a dressage day with a good friend of mine riding him, I’ve ridden around our property, and done trail riding around our place. I have ponied him off my other horse, and ponied my other horse off him, and he is easy to pony with and tolerates my other horse being a twit very well. I regularly ride him in my arena and have been having fortnightly lessons, floating him to my coach.
A friend has popped him over some small jumps (maybe 50cm) and he was very happy to do that, no hesitation or yippees after the jump. He’s not jumped a full course or anything extensive, but he certainly seemed willing enough!
When I bought Presley I vet checked him including x-rays and we found very minor changes in one hock, perfectly normal for his age and breed, so as a preventative, we’ve injected that hock every 6 months.
For sale through no fault of his own, we’re selling our property and have a big life change ahead.
He is a very special guy and will only go to the perfect home for him. Asking $5,500, he will come with a selection of winter and summer rugs.
