Buy yourself that belated Christmas 🎁Whiskey
Tallarook Whiskey Lullaby (PR-450)
6 year old Palomino QH Gelding. About 14.2ish unofficial.
Whiskey is an incredibly switched on, intelligent and athletic horse (and damn fine to look at)
Allowed to mature fairly unhandled as a youngster I brought him as a 3 year old and did extensive groundwork/horsemanship work (Shelley Appleton methods) with him.
I then started him under saddle at aged 4, then sent to trainer Zoe from Zobel Equestrian (April 2024) to really finish off and refine that process of being started under saddle at aged 5. Has since been spelling since then.
Whiskey is the most trainable horse I've ever met. He goes off the lightest and softest cues, is highly motivated to learn and engage and find the answer in all of his sessions. He makes every horse I've ever seen in the past seen almost dead and shutdown in comparison to how much he will go off the lighter feel on the rope, shift of weight or body language.
He does have a more anxious disposition, as he's so keen to please he often is constantly searching for answers and trying to anticipate your needs. It's easy to teach him the wrong thing, as well as the right thing in wrong hands. He will go far with an experienced and confident horse person.
I see him being an extremely good dressage horse (my initial plans or him), or working some cows or something that requires him to have a job to do. My uneducated (not my area of expertise) assumption is he would do amazing campdrafting or similar- the way he cuts and herds our Shetland pony and the sheep drives them nuts and keeps them fit. He seems to have a natural tendency for this.
He loves having a job to do, focusing on his work and learning new things
I've dabbled with doing pole work, some classical dressage inhand work and extensive groundwork and he quickly picks things up.
Shown at local ag shows in hand and always calm and superbly behaved in hand. Well behaved at pony club (in hand trips for exposure). Settles super well in new enviroments in hand with me. Has not been ridden off property, apart from around at the trainers place (see ridden YouTube). He did enjoy riding and adventuring around the property he was trained at wanting to go off and explore and do the obstacle course there.
He is broken in bitless. Going well in a bitless bridle or rope halter. Has had the bit in a few times and ridden but he's so good bitless never worried about the bit.
He is quite short backed so was broken in and worked in shorter English or treeless saddles but I've also ridden him in my Half Breed (it is a touch to big for him). Therefore he wouldn't suit a rider that needs a large long panelled saddle.
His major negative is he can have a tendency to become anxious if the rider isn't clear with him or gives mixed aids. Can be spooky when he is unsure or being a bit over reactive or trying to over anticipate. Generally hasn't shown any bad vices or real dirt ie Biting, bucking, rearing, kicking, windsucking. Trainer had no issues. He does need more canter work.
He needs an experienced rider, wouldn't do well with a nervous rider.
He's a good doer, has incredible barefoot feet and is well behaved for the farrier (never been shod), teeth amazing and up to date, vaccines and worming up to date.
Calls to you in the paddock everytime he sees you. Floats well. Roundpens great.
Respectful of my fences (electric). Works out my paddock track systems well. Had a full lameness and well-being work up with Oldbury Equine in Feb 2024 prior to heading off for finishing with Zobel. He was noted to be one of the first horses they've had show as equal and not favouring any particular direction (left or right) on the lunge with the lameness locator 🤣 getting big ticks across the board. Has regular body work to keep him in tip top shape.
He does prefers the company of other horses (like most horses). Fine if you take him away from others but doesn't love being left alone in the paddock- has a hoon around for a bit before settling to eat if take our Shetland away.
Registered with AQHA performance horse registry (proven QH via genetic testing) and
UBWA.
After much internal debate he is placed for sale only because he isn't the horse I need right now. I love dressage and see myself doing amazing elementary dressage on him one day BUT I've just had my second child and I really need something that can be pulled out of the paddock for a plod around, be safe to throw my girls on when they outgrow their pony and be more forgiving. He will thrive in full time work and a job to do with a confident experienced rider.
So if you think you are his person- someone looking for a switched on performance QH then Whiskey may be the horse for you.
$6,500 negotiable to the perfect home.
Located Wagin (Wheatbelt)
Will come with rugs and front scoot boots (used when our ground is hard and gravelly)

Has two tiny cosmetic scars. On each hind upper cannon.
May consider short term trial under contract.
Currently in paddock condition and has been spelling since training with Zobel. Have started working him again from the ground and he's just smashing goals and ticking all the boxes.
