Bentley is a delightful social and cheeky character, that loves to be in your space and in everything you are doing. He has spent his life on a farm, and is not fazed by cows, sheep, tractors, or motorbikes etc.
Beautiful to catch and handle , perfect to float and take out, and stand for farrier. He does have a strong dislike for clippers and his ears being touched.
Bentley has solid Novice training, and is beginning to train the Elementary movements. He sits beautifully in a light frame, and has excellent brakes. Scores up to 72% in recent Preliminary tests after a 12month break from being ridden due to Year 12 and other horse commitments. We purchased him greenbroken as a high level show hunter pony and dressage mount, and with further regular work he has the potential to be very successful at both of these, however his happiest place is very much as a general all rounder doing a bit of everything.
Bentley has attended Pony Club, in hand shows, dressage and showjump days and Ag shows. He is a very enthusiastic jumper but hasn’t had the opportunity to do a lot of this due to dressage being our preferred discipline. He hasn’t had many outings in the last 2 years through no fault of his own.
Bentley does need a very soft and balanced rider, as he is a sensitive soul, and can be an internal worrier when he’s confused. While he has had a young inexperienced child on board and was perfectly behaved for her, I don’t feel he’s best suited as a permanent first pony (yet) so a teenager or small adult would be ideal to continue his education.
