SV Pride Of Merisi

Talented 5yo OTT with the potential to be a Serious Performance Horse

$35,000

Description

SV Pride Of Merisi aka “Vegemite” is a 5yo Off The Track Thoroughbred gelding by Caravaggio out of a Bradbury’s Luck mare. Vegemite raced once as a 2yo and then sat in a paddock for 12 months before coming to me in December 2023.

In the past year, Vegemite has progressed into a confident 80cm eventer and 95cm showjumper with several ribbons and a trip to Melbourne under his belt. He has also competed in a 95cm Grand Prix where he placed 4th after a confident round with only 2 green rails. Vegemite scored the highest dressage score out of all 4, 5 & 6yo Young Event Horses and Thoroughbreds at the Melbourne International 3 Day Event in 2024 before going on to jump a clear round in the jumping phase, finishing 7th in a competitive class with over 20 4yo’s from around the country.

Vegemite recently had a clinic with Andrew Barnett where he was confidently training over 1* lines with scope to go higher. He is however still very green to the 95/1* level and requires an experienced rider to continue his education.

In 2024 Vegemite won the Junior 80cm at Swan River Horse Trials in October, finishing on an impressive dressage score of 24.7. He also stepped up to his first 95cm showjumping tracks at Busselton Showjumping in November where he jumped 6/7 clear rounds and placed in 3/4 classes.

Vegemite gets his confidence from his rider and wants to please, he is a character with a big personality who can get cheeky at times but he will always have you laughing!

While well seasoned and travelled for his age, Vegemite is a sensitive soul and still a 5yo thoroughbred therefore he has his quirks and is NOT suited to a nervous, beginner or inexperienced rider or a younger rider looking for their first horse. He would be best suited to someone who has or is surrounded by people with previous experience with thoroughbreds and an understanding of the way they think.

Although I originally purchased Vegemite as a project, the decision to move him on has been extremely difficult and he will only go to the very best of homes. Unfortunately it is isn’t possible for me to compete 3 horses at high level and with plans to go east this year with my current * horses, something has to give.

Vegemite is a much loved family member and I have had a lot of fun with him over the past 12 months. I am in no rush to find him his perfect home, he is a very special little horse with a big future ahead of him and the potential to be a serious performance horse.
