Clayton Windswept (formerly Clayton Ankles) aka Flossie 7 y/o Waler (not ‘water’ but does like water…) mare located Cowaramup.
Purchased direct from Clayton Station as an unhandled 4 y/o aside from a few days before she left on the truck. I spent the first year gaining her trust, teaching her to lead, doing all the basic handling, desensitising, ground work etc. and doing a clinic with her before she was started by Neil Innes in April 2022. Whilst I have years of riding experience I am not the bravest of riders but not that long after she was started, we were out bush riding in company feeling safe and having fun. Flossie is a confident mare who rarely spooks and enjoys leading a ride, but is happy to hang at the back too. I have felt completely safe riding her out on my own in the bush, which is big for me. It’s been an amazing experience with this little wild horse who has grown into a good sized physcially strong mare. She’s low maintenance, barefoot with long strides and lovely movement. I’ve done loads of bush rides, a couple of ridden clinics with her, some group lessons and a small amount of arena work.
It has been agonisingly hard to post this ad as Flossie and I have such a strong bond, but I have realised it would be better for me given my time restraints, age and confidence level to find a horse that has already been trained further.
Flossie is registered with the Waler Society and is of course up to date with teeth and all the usual health and care requirements. She is 15h unofficially measured. No off property trials or leases thanks. I will keep loving and riding Flossie until the right person comes along. The right rider will have so much fun with this lovely mare.
